Phil Hanson - Trumpet, Effects, Controllers Phil grew up in Brighouse and Halifax, West Yorkshire, playing Cornet in various Brass Bands. He joined Brighouse & Rastrick Brass Band in 1992 and stayed there for 7 years, during which time the band won several major competitions and played everywhere from the Royal Albert Hall to Abbey Road. Phil gave music up completely in 1999 for a period of 10 years, and eventually found the music bug again in 2009 when he bought a new Trumpet and started learning how to play improvised 'Free Jazz'. Although Phil can read music, his musical approach nowadays is solely focussed on improvisation. No music is written down as part of the music being created with H2. Phil also now prefers a key, time signature and tempo 'Free' style of Jazz, which allows for a greater amount of expression and freedom in his playing. When he is improvising with H2, Phil takes his musical inspiration from the beats, loops and samples Roger creates, as well as any colours, pictures, movement or anything else which is in view. Phil also hopes to use paintings as images in a backdrop to H2 live shows, which have been inspired by the H2 music. Phils sister-in-law, Jo, will hopefully be creating these original paintings that will be integrated with the H2 live experience.

Roger Armstrong - Laptop, Beats, Samples, Controllers Born and bred on the mean streets of North East England (Whitley Bay) Roger Armstrong has been producing electronic music since the early 90s when John Peel and the legendary Rezerection raves in Newcastle introduced him to Acid House. This demonstrated to Roger the DIY mentality of
Chicago and Detroit producers, a state of mind which continues to serve him
well twenty years later as a professional film maker. Solo recording as LaptopAcidXperience since 2006, Roger has several releases on iTunes (for London based Alrealon Records and Berlin based Odrex) and a variety of other download sites worldwide. |
